Xbox Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee Developer: Oddworld Inhabitants | Publisher: Microsoft
Raziel
Type: Adventure Skill Level: ...
Players: 1 Available: Fall 2001

Lets forget all the fairy tales; the magical forests, Never Never Land, and all that sugar coated perfect world nonsense! Prepare to enter the realm of Oddworld where the land is beyond weird, the enemies are beyond twisted, and the heroes are...well, odd! Abe's adventure continues in Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, developed exclusively for the Microsoft Xbox platform. In this new Oddysee, our Mudokon hero Abe, with the help of his aquatic oddball partner, Munch, will have to go out and rescue Abe's mother! This will be Abe and Munch's third journey across the bizarre Oddworld, an ever-changing world of truly odd creatures, off-the-wall action, and outlandish goons! Going through the monstrous Oddworld won't be easy, so of course, Abe and Munch are going to be armed with special psychic powers, cool power-ups, far-out vehicles and other special abilities to deliver payback for messing with Abe's mommy!

Players will take control of Abe and Munch cooperatively, each having their own uniqie special abilities. For example, Abe can climb and jump to reach now areas, and use his quickness by running from enemies. As a last resort, Abe can do a little hocus-pocus to take control of the enemy's soul to do his bidding such as clear paths. Abe's chant roar could take possession of a gun-toting Big Bro Slig (gotta love the names in this game!) and clear anything out of the way. Keep in mind that Abe's powers aren't infinite! He has to charge on his Spooce (spiritual power) by harvesting humshrubs.

Munch on the other hand, can swim around the new realms of Oddworld to reach places that Abe can't. Also, if Abe is unable to get the job done by mesmerizing his enemies, Munch can step in and use his handy Sonar Plug to hijack nearby machines including cranes, security cameras and 50-caliber Anesthesia bots to tackle the really tough obstacles. If only Batman and Robin could do half of the impressive things these guys could do!

Abe and Munch could also pickup some power-ups throughout the game such as the Expresso and Klimb to boost up Munch and Abe's abilities to perform "cool" moves. Oddworld features high-caliber weaponry and cool vehicles to mow through tough situations, or to navigate through areas faster; (but where's the fun in just that?) Start some ruckus.

The realm of Oddworld is brought to life by taking advantage of the 3D capabilities of the Xbox. Oddworld will feature highly detailed and lush environments such as with roaring rapids, towering mountains and hundreds of trees that bloom or die. The world will be so huge that players can interact with dozens of different races in the game!

Keep an eye out for a hands-on review when Oddworld is released later this year.
